Lore and town life: 300 flavor rich items, 200 villager and shopkeeper barks, and 40 quests with giver and completion lines.

Give your RPG, roguelike or adventure game a full layer of ready to use text: item descriptions with tooltips and flavor, short townsfolk lines for every situation, and complete quest texts. Everything is original, written in a neutral fantasy tone that fits most settings, and delivered as plain CSV and JSON files that load straight into your engine or spreadsheet.

Text drafted with AI assistance and edited by tunlor.

What you get

  • items.csv and items.json: 300 items across weapons, armor, shields, accessories, potions, food, scrolls, tools, trinkets, keys, materials and junk. Each has a name, category, rarity, a one line tooltip (70 characters or fewer), exactly two sentences of flavor text, and searchable tags.
  • barks.csv and barks.json: 200 NPC lines for ten roles (guard, merchant, villager, innkeeper, traveler, blacksmith, healer, child, noble, scholar). Each role has four lines for each of five situations: greeting, idle, warning, farewell and haggle.
  • quests.csv and quests.json: 40 quests with a title, giver, giver line, objective, completion line, reward note, difficulty and type (fetch, escort, hunt, deliver, investigate, rescue, craft).
  • RPG-Writing-Pack-Guide.pdf: a 6 page printable guide with field tables, import quick starts, a naming and tone guide, sample entries and a license summary.
  • LICENSE.txt and README.txt: plain language license and a short contents list.

Why it is handy

  • Ready for engines. UTF-8 files with stable ids and one field per column. In CSV the tags are one semicolon separated cell, and in JSON they are an array.
  • No numbers to fight. There are no stats or prices in the text, so you set your own balance and the writing stays useful in any system.
  • Specific, not generic. Every item has its own concrete detail, and no two entries repeat.
  • Roles that match. Barks and quest givers share the same roles, so a scene can pull both from one set.
  • Clean text. No profanity, no real brands and no borrowed character names.

Who it is for

Solo developers and game jam teams who have the art and the code but not the time to write. Also useful for prototypes, RPG Maker projects, tabletop game masters who want quick flavor lines, and anyone who needs a believable fantasy world filled out fast.

Formats and engines

CSV and JSON, UTF-8. The guide includes short import notes for Godot 4, Unity and RPG Maker, plus tips for any other engine or tool that can read CSV or JSON, such as GameMaker, Python, JavaScript or a plain spreadsheet.

License summary

Use the text in commercial and non-commercial games and apps, including inside a game project that is public, edit it freely, and skip the credit if you like. Do not resell or redistribute the text files as a standalone pack or dataset, and do not use the text to train AI models. One purchase covers you and your own projects as an individual or a small team, and larger studios should buy one copy per team. See LICENSE.txt in the download for the full wording.

Pairs well with

It works alongside other tunlor packs: UI packs give your game its look, story idea packs give you the plot, and this pack supplies the lore and town life to fill them.

For combat barks, quest twists and UI messages, see Fantasy RPG Text Pack.

The preview images show only a few sample entries. The full set is in the download.
